Long haul Lufthansa flights grounded today
The Lufthansa pilots’ strike is causing disruption to more than 200,000 passengers as it includes long haul services today.
The airline has already cancelled 37% of flights today as the action continues until 23.59 (local time) today.
The cancellations include dozens of flights between London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh and German cities.
It is the latest walk-out by members of the Vereinigung Cockpit union over retirement benefits.
Yesterday’s pilot strike affected short and medium-haul flights and led to the German airline cancelling 56% of flight equating to 704.
Routes operated by Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, SWISS and Air Dolomiti are not affected and will operate as scheduled.
