Louisville waiting for massive room boom
Want a hotel room? Try Louisville, Kentucky, where 1,300 new units are being added in various stages.
There are now bout 4,000 rooms in the downtown area, says Jim Wood, president of the Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The growth in downtown hotel capacity includes 250 rooms in am Embassy Suites Hotel. Other planned projects include a 300-room Westin Hotel.
The new lodging facilities will join three other downtown hotels with more than 800 rooms that have been added since 2005, according to online information from the Greater Louisville Hotel & Lodging Association.
“Hopefully, our city will keep growing, and business travel will keep growing and help fill those rooms,” said Brad Walker, general manager of The Brown Hotel.
