Louvre Hotels Group strenghtens its presence in Lyon and Alps region
With more than 100 hotels across its brands, Louvre Hotels Group—the second-largest hotel group in France and Europe—is positioning the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (stretching between Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon and the French Alps) as a key driver of the transformation outlined in its five-year strategic plan.
Major renovations, brand concept upgrades, and new openings scheduled through 2027 highlight the momentum led jointly by the Group’s managed and franchised hotels.
Two years after launching its strategic plan, Louvre Hotels Group continues to actively modernize its hotel portfolio in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, advancing toward its goal of having 80% of its hotels renovated by 2028.
Annecy, Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand, Chambery, Valence, and Aix-les-Bains are among the destinations that have recently undergone major renovations and now host multiple Group brands and labels, including Première Classe, Kyriad ECO, Kyriad, Kyriad PRESTIGE, Campanile PRIME, Campanile NATURE, Tulip Hotels & Residences, and Golden Tulip.
A guarantee for enhanced comfort across all brands
These upgrades are based on enhanced comfort standards now being rolled out across the portfolio: thicker mattresses, extra-soft pillows, new duvets, and 100% cotton bedding to ensure quality sleep, along with modernized bathrooms, contemporary design, and reconfigured common areas tailored to today’s business and leisure travelers.
“Renovation is now the main value-creation lever for our network. It not only immediately enhances the guest experience but also improves hotel performance. Initial results across the Group, with an average 10-point increase in market share for renovated hotels, confirm the relevance of this strategy,” said Krystel Blondeau, Managing Director France at Louvre Hotels Group.
At a broader level, this momentum is already visible: more than 70 managed hotels and 130 franchised properties were renovated across France and Europe in 2025. With half of the managed portfolio now modernized, renovations are continuing, with around ten additional hotels scheduled in the first quarter of 2026 and a target of reaching 80% of the managed network renovated by year-end.
A regional footprint built on a hybrid model of managed and franchised hotels
At the same time, Louvre Hotels Group capitalizes on the appeal of the region. With around 40 Campanile hotels—more than half franchised—35 Kyriad, Kyriad ECO, or Kyriad PRESTIGE properties, nearly 30 Première Classe hotels, and one Golden Tulip, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region fully illustrates the Group’s hybrid model, combining direct operations and franchise agreements.
To strengthen their appeal, several managed properties have undertaken major repositioning efforts, spanning both economy brands such as Première Classe and midscale labels like Campanile PRIME and Campanile NATURE.
Modernization is already well underway in the Lyon area and surrounding region, with several hotels recently renovated or currently undergoing upgrades, including:
- Campanile PRIME – Lyon Centre – Perrache rail station – 107 rooms
- Campanile PRIME – Lyon Ouest Tassin – 104 rooms
- Première Classe Lyon Est Saint-Exupéry Airport – 70 rooms
- Campanile NATURE – Aix-les-Bains – 59 rooms
- Campanile NATURE – Lyon Est Saint-Exupéry Airport – 53 rooms
- Première Classe Lyon Ouest – Tassin – 87 rooms
The transformation plan will continue throughout the year, with renovations scheduled at key sites:
- Campanile PRIME – Lyon Centre Berges du Rhône – 130 rooms
- Campanile NATURE – Grenoble Saint-Égrève – 41 rooms
- Campanile NATURE – Moulins Avermes – 47 rooms
- Campanile NATURE – Chanas – 48 rooms
- Première Classe Chasse-sur-Rhône – 70 rooms
Franchise partners also remain highly engaged, with several recent renovation completions demonstrating strong alignment with the Group’s transformation strategy:
- Première Classe Annecy Sud – Cran-Gevrier – 50 rooms
- Campanile PRIME Lyon Centre Part-Dieu rail station – 173 rooms
- Campanile NATURE Lyon Est Bron Eurexpo – 65 rooms
- Campanile NATURE Clermont-Ferrand Nord Riom – 51 rooms
Strategic openings supporting regional economic growth
Alongside these renovations, Louvre Hotels Group continues to expand with several key openings.
Following the launch of Campanile PRIME Chaponost in October 2025, Campanile PRIME Meyzieu opened in early March 2026, strengthening the Group’s presence in eastern Lyon.
The first half of 2026 will also see several major openings: TULIP Hotels & Residences Guilherand-Granges and Kyriad L’Isle-d’Abeau announced in early April;and Kyriad PRESTIGE Pierrelatte, scheduled to open in June.
Looking ahead, the opening of a Golden Tulip in Bourgoin-Jallieu in 2027 will further expand the Group’s presence in the upscale segment.
These new developments support evolving business travel patterns and the growth of regional economic hubs, reinforcing the strategic importance of the Lyon/Alps region in Louvre Hotels Group’s expansion strategy.
“Our development is selective: we invest where demand is evolving and where our brands provide real solutions to local market needs. The region combines economic attractiveness, year-round tourism, and strong infrastructure density, making it a particularly representative testing ground for our national strategy. This momentum also relies on the commitment of our franchise partners, with whom we share a common ambition to invest sustainably in product quality, property modernization, and the long-term performance of our network,” concluded Krystel Blondeau, Managing Director France at Louvre Hotels Group.
