Luton announces record passenger numbers
Over 1.1 million people flew through Luton Airport last month, 17% more than in April 2015.
The rise brings the airport’s rolling annual total to more than 13 million passengers for the first time.
April also marked the 25 month in a row for passenger growth at the London airport.
The airport is investing £110million to expand the terminal capacity from 12 million to 18 million passengers by 2020 and earlier this month plans were announced for a £200 million mass passenger transit link to connect the airport to the rail station.
The link will replace the shuttle bus and reduce journey times from St Pancras train station to less than 30 minutes, giving it faster access to central London than Gatwick and Stansted.
