Major water leak floods Mandalay Bay Convention Center
A ruptured water main was responsible for the evacuation of more than 1,000 people from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
The leak poured out thousands of gallons of water flooding an area between the first and second floors, the Clark County Fire Department said.
Visitors were moved to other parts of the facility and power was restored a short time after the flow of water subsided.
Images showed a large area under water.
The Fire Department said no injuries were reported and there was no disruption to main hotel operations.
The affected area remains off-limits while the clean-up continues.
The leak was discovered near to the well-known Shark Reef aquarium.
"Crews are working to clean up the leak as soon as possible. There are no injuries or major disruptions to operations," Mandalay Bay owner MGM Resorts International tweeted.
The Mandalay Bay was the scene of America’s worst ever mass shooting last year when 58 people died and hundreds were injured.
