Malaysia theme parks get green light to reopen

Malaysia has given the go-ahead for the country’s theme parks to reopen.

All theme parks, including water parks may reopen from July 1, said senior minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, following a ministerial meeting of the MCO enforcement group.

"They will have to follow and enforce strict SOPs and social distancing at all times as well as limit the number of people depending on capacity and size of their parks," he said.

It will lead to up to 10,000 employees returning to work.

Theme park visitors must register on the government’s contact tracing app.

Malaysia is now allowing restaurants to serve at full capacity and is easing temperature checks at shopping malls and hotels.

This means that checks are required only at the main entrance of malls and hotels and not for each individual store or hotel restaurant.
