Malaysia unveils new logo

Wednesday, 23 Jul, 2019 0

Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has unveiled the new Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign logo, a year after the previous one sparked ridicule across the nation.

The new logo will be the focal branding asset for the country’s mission to reach 30 million international tourist arrivals and RM100 billion in tourism spending.

It was created by a 23-year-old graphic designer from Malacca after a nationwide competition received hundreds of submissions.

It features well known Malaysian flora and fauna the hornbill and hibiscus as well as the colours of the Malaysian flag.

The previous logo launched last year to widespread derision for its poor quality and showing an orang-utan, a proboscis monkey and turtle wearing sunglasses.

Last year Malaysia welcomed 25.8 million international visitor arrivals.
