Malaysian budget chain checks into London
Tune Hotels has opened its doors in London, the first of 15 Tune Hotels planned for the capital.
It is the limited service hotel chain’s 10tth property since opening its first hotel in Kuala Lumpur in 2007.
Reviewed by the London Evening Standard, Tune Hotels’ London property was “clean, comfortable and insanely cheapâ€.
But the reviewer added, “Claustrophobics should go elsewhere because at less than 12 square metres there is room for a bed and little else.â€
Apart from London, Tune Hotels now has seven hotels in Malaysia and two in Bali.
Based on the low-cost airline model, guests pay a basic price for a room and pay extra for the facilities and services they use, such as TV, WIFI, towels, tea and coffee and hairdryers,
The first London hotel is located on Westminster Bridge Road, close to Waterloo station.
Tune Hotels is part of Malaysia’s Tune Group, the private investment group of Tony Fernandes, founder and Group CEO of low-cost airline AirAsia.
Tune Hotels in the UK will be operated under a strategic partnership with Queensway Group Limited, a UK-based private investment group owning and operating hospitality assets in the UK, Europe, and United Arab Emirates.
