Maldives meets annual target of 1.3 million arrivals
Indian Ocean nation Maldives has been one of few tourism success stories this year. It just welcomed the 1.3 millionth tourist this week, meeting the annual target set by the Tourism Ministry.
According to the Tourism Ministry, the tourist hails from Romania.
Maldives’ original goal for one million tourists in the year was reached in August, and then increased to 1.3 million by the year-end.
It is only 22.8% below the pre-pandemic total in 2019.
