Mama Shelter checking in to Bangkok

Friday, 05 Dec, 2016 0
AccorHotels’ urban lifestyle brand Mama Shelter is coming to Asia with a first hotel planned for Bangkok.

Patrick Basset, AccorHotels’ COO of Upper South-east & North-east Asia, said a management deal will likely be signed shortly with an opening slated for 2018 in the Sukhumvit area.

"We believe Bangkok has the highest tourism potential in Asia-Pacific because it is the world’s most-visited city according to a poll by MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index 2016. Almost every Accor brand is successful in Thailand," Bassett said.

"Thailand is expected to welcome 33.8 million foreign visitors this year, a major reason why Accor will open the first Mama Shelter hotel in the region in Bangkok,"

The Mama Shelter brand currently operates in six locations in the US, South America and France.

Accor already operates 69 hotels in Thailand under brands including Sofitel, SO Sofitel, MGallery by Sofitel, Swissotel and Pullman with a further 18 due to open within two years.

Accor says it will also introduce its new economy Millennial focused brand, Jo & Joe, in Thailand and elsewhere in Asia.
