Manchester Airport hails busiest ever Deccember

Manchester Airport closed out the year with its busiest December on record.
The airport handled 2.2 million passengers flying in or out.
It beat the previous record set in December 2023 by 10% with the busiest day on Sunday 29 December, with just under 89,000 people.
During the month 98% of passengers queued for 15 minutes or less to pass security with three quarters of all passengers waiting less than five minutes.
This year Manchester Airport’s £1.3 billion transformation programme is set to be completed.
Also, this year the airport’s brand-new Terminal 2 will fully open.
The first phase opened in 2022.
When fully operational it will double the size of the terminal and add more than 25 new shops, bars and restaurants.
It features a new security screening area and more check in desks.
“We smashed our December record with 2.2 million passengers. It comes at the end of our busiest year on record with more than 30 million passengers,” said airport MD, Chris Woodroofe,
The top destination in December were Amsterdam and Dubai.
