Medhotels goes trade-only

Wednesday, 09 Apr, 2010 0

Thomas Cook-owned medhotels.com will become the sole trade facing bedbank for third party agents.

The change comes into force from April 17.

Sister company Hotels4u.com will be relaunched as a consumer facing accommodation-only brand as part of Thomas Cook’s independent division later this month.

The trade site will offer the combined product range and services of hotels4u.com and medhotels.com, providing agents with one dedicated online trade offering.

Featuring more than 50,000 properties, medhotels.com claims it will become the UK’s largest bedbank.

Access to medhotels.com will remain the same but any agent logging onto hotels4u.com after April 17 will automatically be diverted to medhotels.com.

The repositioning will also be supported by a trade advertising campaign that will assist in communicating to all agents and the travel industry as a whole, according to Thomas Cook.

Medhotels.com will include a new admin tool allowing agents to manage their bookings and administration more efficiently going forward, according to the company.

Transfers will continue to be available through www.hoteltransfer.com .

Teresa Walsh, sales and marketing director medhotels.com and hotels4u.com said: “Since acquiring medhotels.com in 2009 we have been looking at ways in which we can enhance our bedbank proposition further for agents.

“We now feel confident that by combining the extensive product portfolios of the two leading bedbanks we will not only improve both ours and the agents’ efficiency, but provide agents with a one-stop-shop for all their accommodation and transfer needs.”
