Mexicanwave to promote responsible tourism

Mexicanwave, the portal for travel to Mexico from Europe, is to launch a new lodgings and tours directory focusing on sustainable tourism in Mexico.

The company said that it sees its role as promoting a better understanding of the ‘real’ Mexico, beyond the beach resorts and stereotypes of tequila and sombreros.

Steve Bridger, co-founder and director of Micanwave said: “We won’t aim to cover every last inch and activity in Mexico, but we are passionate about Mexico and our goal is to inspire, educate and empower travellers with the practical tools to realise their alternative dream holiday.”

Mexicanwave is a founder member of The Mexico Network, a collaboration between three award-winning Mexico websites cemented earlier this year.

“Mexicanwave has shown itself a great supporter of destinations off the beaten track in Mexico,” said Ron Mader, co-founder of The Mexico Network and host of Planeta.com. “European travellers will benefit from the new partnerships as will Mexican communities and those promoting responsible travel in Mexico.”
