Newsreader Michael Buerk revealed on national television that he wished he had pushed disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile off the QE2 when they were on a cruise together.

During last night’s episode of the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity, 68-year-old Buerk who is one of the contestants said he wished he had pushed the former DJ and children’s TV presenter into the sea.

Buerk, who was talking to other contestants about his life and his regret at losing his mother when he was 16, said:  "My other regret is standing at the rail of the QE2 with Jimmy Savile who I personally disliked intensely before everyone else did, and my regret is not tipping him over the rail while I had the chance."
