‘Mid-air’ emergency after sparks come from First Class seats
A United airlines flight called a ‘mid-air’ emergency after electrical sparks were spotted on two First Class seats.
The Boeing 777, carrying 265 passengers and 14 crew to Los Angeles, turned back to Heathrow on Friday ‘shortly after take-off due to a mechanical issue’.
Firefighters boarded the plane before it was allowed to return to the airport’s apron.
"I understand there may have been a possible electrical issue with a seat onboard," United spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm told NBC News.
The airline said it was working to get passengers to Los Angeles as soon as possible.
