Midconsort name dropped in Elite Travel Group rebrand
The Midconsort Elite Travel Group has dropped the Midconsort name as the consortium marks its 30th anniversary.
Director Chris Turner said: “The name Midconsort was dropped because we no longer rely just on the Midlands for our members.
“The name Elite reflects the aims and aspirations of our members. Each and every member is distinctive and in their own way ‘elite’ in the marketplace.”
The group, which claims to have 25 potential new members waiting to join, has launched a members’ intranet and dynamic packaging system under the Elite Desktop name.
The consortium provides ATOL bonding for members and liability insurance for dynamic packages booked on the system.
Elite is to contract specialist ground handlers around the world as well as accommodation suppliers that act as principal.
Chairman Neil Basnett said: “As we are a democratically run organization we have responded to the needs of our members. Over the next few months I am confident that we will see a strengthening of the group with many important changes within Elite.
“The Elite Travel Group is the only consortium which is 100% owned by its members with an equal shareholding. Consequently, the members own it, elect the directors and have an equal say.
“It is a true case of one member one vote. We believe this is a very attractive proposition, particularly when the dividend cheque drops through the door with the member’s name on it. Our members see the fruition of projects like Elite Desktop and the new Exclusively Elite brochure.”
