Mirvac opens first South Pacific hotel – The Sebel Vanuatu
Mirvac Hotels & Resorts has expanded into the South Pacific region with the announcement of The Sebel Vanuatu which is due to open in May this year.
Located in Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila, The Sebel Vanuatu boasts a stunning waterfront position overlooking Vila Harbour, and is the perfect base to explore Vanuatu from, providing easy access to the region’s vast range of leisure activities.
As Vanuatu’s first international hotel, just 10 minutes from Port Vila International Airport, The Sebel Vanuatu is expected to provide a major boost to local tourism by increasing the number of arrivals into the region.
The Sebel Vanuatu offers 74 harbour facing guestrooms and suites which feature extensive water views, private furnished balconies and contemporary European style furnishing. Luxurious marble bathrooms are characterised by a unique window and blind between guestroom and bathroom to showcase the expansive harbour views.
The hotel also offers a range of recreational facilities including a fully equipped gymnasium, sauna, salt water swimming pool, French Restaurant and lobby bar, as well as a rooftop bar.
Access to Irikiki Island Resort, directly opposite the hotel, is also available enabling guests to use the beaches, restaurants, bars, and other recreational activities at the resort.
According to Andrew Turner, Mirvac Hotels & Resorts CEO, “The Sebel Vanuatu is a welcome addition to the group, validating our commitment to overseas expansion, a key focus for the future”, he said.
“The South Pacific region holds huge potential for us due to its popularity with Australasian holidaymakers and business travellers alike, and we are excited to finally introduce the renowned Sebel brand into this region. The Sebel Vanuatu is also the perfect complement to sister Sebel hotels in Australia and New Zealand”, he said.
“Our rapid growth over the past 12 months has made us one of Australia’s largest hotel operators so it is fitting to welcome our first South Pacific property”, he concluded.
Made up of 83 islands, Vanuatu is an archipelago with a colourful history and one of the most pristine Melanesian cultures in the world. As a relatively unspoilt nation, it is a popular destination for leisure and business travellers due in large part to its year round tropical climate of between 27 – 30 degrees. Its diversity enables visitors to enjoy everything from coral seas and tropical islands to volcanoes and rainforests.
