Monarch cancels Sharm flights until December 19
Monarch has extended the cancellation of flights to and from Sharm el Sheikh up to and including Saturday December 19.
Originally, it had extended the cancellation of services until November 25, along with Thomson, easyJet and Thomas Cook.
Although Thomas Cook has only cancelled flights until November 25, it is giving customers booked up to and including December 10 the chance to make a free amendment to their holiday, offering a £25 discount on any alternative holiday booked.
The operator said it had increased staff on its dedicated customer telephone line – 01733 224 536 – for customers due to travel up to and including December 10.
It said a dedicated line for Travel agent enquiries has also been set up – 01733 224 520, open from 8.30am to 7pm.
The operator added that the concerns of those customers due to travel after December 10, 2015 and who no longer wish to do so will be addressed on a case by case basis.
Thomson has taken a similar approach, saying: "As it stands, we have only cancelled flights to Sharm el Sheikh up to and including Wednesday November 25. Customers travelling to Sharm el Sheikh up to and including December 10 2015 will be able to amend their booking free of charge to any holiday taken by the end of April 2016."
EasyJet said it continues to work in consultation with the UK Government and is keeping its flights from November 26 onwards under review.
Meanwhile, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising holidaymakers still in the resort to take a flight back by Tuesday or risk having to fly with another airline without the additional security in place.
Monarch is operating its last rescue flights from Sharm on Tuesday and strongly urged holidaymakers to rebook their return. EasyJet is putting on three extra flights on Tuesday to bring the last of its passengers back to the UK and Italy.
These flights will be the last UK flights to operate to the Red Sea resort following the UK Government’s decision to advise against all but essential air travel from Sharm.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has not changed its travel advice for the resort itself.
