Monarch sees scheduled carryings rise to 3.7m
Scheduled passengers flying with flyMonarch.com rose by almost 16% to 3.7 million last year over 3.2 million in 2006.
The increase was helped by the launch of eight routes during the year – Birmingham-Ibiza; Gatwick to Ibiza and Murcia; Luton to Almeria, Ibiza and Larnaca as well as Manchester to Ibiza and Jerez.
Capacity increases on a number of popular routes and the launch of further new services in 2008 will stimulate further growth this year with expansion to the eastern Mediterranean and a new Manchester-Murcia link from next month, the airline said.
Traffic for December was up by 10.6% year on year to 184,518 passengers, although the percentage of internet bookings declined from 90% to 87%.
