More flights from Brisbane to Seoul
Korean Airlines is to markedly increase capacity between Seoul and Brisbane by October this year.
The airline will move from three to five flights per week on the route, the new Monday and Saturday services resulting in more than 30,000 extra seats being offered annually.
BAC General Manager of Commercial Services Otto Ambagtsheer said market research conducted by Tourism Research Australia showed Korean visitation to Australia was up 10 percent from last year, with growth expected to continue.
“This important announcement has the potential to provide a significant boost to the economy of Queensland, with Korea being one of the highest yielding international markets for the state,” Mr Ambagtsheer said.
Mr Ambagtsheer said 82 percent of Korean visitors travel for holiday and leisure, underlining the importance of the Korean market to the growth of Queensland’s tourism economy.
“Asia and more specifically Korea represent a very positive future, delivering great benefits to the Queensland tourism and investment economy. The continued growth of international airlines such as Korean Air and the impact they have is good news for the tourism industry in Queensland,” he said
