More historical cruises for Blue Lagoon
Clients with a taste for the exotic are going to love Blue Lagoon Cruises’ six-night Gold Club standard cruises offering them the chance to join a team of international anthropologists visiting the largely uncharted reaches comprising Fiji’s remote north-eastern tip.
The cruise was announced as part of an expansion of Blue Lagoon’s popular Historical & Cultural Dateline Cruises in 2008, with the addition of a new May 19 sailing.
The area to be visited is unique as it’s the only place on earth where passengers can see all three of the Pacific Ocean’s distinct cultural groupings – Melanesian, Micronesian and Polynesian – living together.
Itinerary highlights include Kioa Island, home to some 300 Polynesian Elice Islanders who migrated into the region in the 1940s. The cruise will also visit the 4,000 Micronesian Banabans who have inhabited Rabi Island since 1941.
The Historical & Cultural Dateline Cruises depart Blue Lagoon’s home port on Lautoka on February 18, May 19, August 18 and November 17 2008.
