More taking multiple ski holidays – Inghams

Sunday, 15 Jun, 2007 0

Leading winter sports operator Inghams believes a trend towards multiple ski holidays is set to continue.

The prediction came with the release of an overhauled ski and snowboard brochure for 2007-08 featuring a new logo and improved layout.

The publication of the brochure, covering 14 countries including Japan, Lapland and Canada, follows what the operator described as “one of itrs most successful winter seasons ever”.

A spokeswoman said: “The lack of snow in certain countries and resorts did have an effect early in the season, but when the snow eventually arrived it came thick and fast, providing unusually good snow conditions right through until late in the season.

“The outlook for the forthcoming winter ‘07/08 season is encouraging with bookings for many areas ahead of last year.

“Inghams remains optimistic with capacity allowing for growth to many popular destinations of Europe, as well as Canada and Lapland. We expect the trend towards people taking multiple ski holidays to continue.”

Flight options have been expanded with the introduction of charter flights from Humberside to Innsbruck. Capacity on charters to Calgary from Gatwick and Manchester has been increased as well as additional flying with British Airways to Denver for Breckenridge and Vail.

Prices start at £254 for a week’s self-catering based on six staying in a three-room villa at the Malina Village in Borovets, Bulgaria.

At the top end, a week at the five-star Four Seasons in Whistler starts at £4,375 per week, based on two sharing a King room with a balcony.

After making a debut last winter, the programme to Japan has been expanded with the introduction of the town of Furano at the centre of Hokkaido.

Capacity to Finland has also been increased including three and four-night Santa Short Breaks on a charters from Gatwick between December 2-26.

The Spanish ski resort of Baqueira – Beret, virtually unknown to the British market but popular with Spanish skiers, is added together with the well known Austrian resort of St Johann.

The operator is offering a new ‘Meet the Pistes’ service at 23 resorts to acquaint guests with the local ski areas at the beginning of their holiday.

Pre-bookable kindergartens are available in 15 resorts including Seefeld, Ellmau, Bansko and Borovets while selected resorts are offering children ski free deals.

Chief executive Litsa Constantinou said: “We are seeing more and more people wanting to try an alternative winter holiday experience, to make the most of the winter wonderland and the many snow related activities available. To cater for the demand Inghams are offering more snow activity based short breaks across the programme.”
