MSC Cruises plans $450 million Bahamas cruise port facility
MSC Cruises plans to pump nearly half a billion dollars into a new cruise facility on Grand Bahama Island.
The Nassau Guardian reports MSC plans to build a new dedicated pier and terminal with commercial amenities, plus a beach club and a visitor center, spending about $450 million.
Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis just announced the project in Freeport.
Davis called it a ‘serious expansion with real scale.’
The cruise company is also investing about $50 million of the money in Freeport Harbour to facilitate upgrades to the port infrastructure and the retail village.
“The project is designed as a multi-user facility, supporting operational flexibility and positioning Grand Bahama to capture greater cruise activity and higher passenger volumes,” PM Davis said.
There will be new stores, and food and beverage outlets, plus entertainment along with related infrastructure.
