NDC fares warning for corporate travel industry
SaaS travel data business Traxo, Inc warned of the risks for the corporate travel industry as NDC fares finally becomes mainstream.
It will lead to higher levels of out-of-system, non-compliant flight bookings.
It cites the upcoming roll out of American Airlines NDC launch on Sabre.
“NDC fares are anticipated to only be bookable directly via the airline or other NDC-ready travel intermediaries.”
“These are which are typically outside of approved corporate channels,” said Andres Fabris, CEO of Traxo.
“Such out-of-system bookings can pose significant challenges to TMCs and corporate travel managers.”
This ‘leakage’ results in higher travel costs, and also reduces control over policies, Fabris added.
“It also raises worrying care-of-duty concerns for the employer.”
“Other major US carriers, such as Delta and United, are carefully watching with interest to see how the industry reacts.
“It is highly likely other carriers will soon follow.”
