Need a holiday?

Frustration with not being able to take holidays has been highlighted in a poll by one of Australia’s leading accommodation websites, Travelmate.com.au

In a recent exclusive online survey conducted by Travelmate.com.au, visitors to the website were asked: How do you take your holiday leave?

The highest number of respondents (37.20%) answered: “A Holiday!” “What’s that”?

Taking a few short breaks each year was the next most popular option, scoring 35.46% of the vote.

Taking one big trip was the preferred way of utilising holiday leave for 27.25% of those polled.

Managing Director Russell Farr says the results reflect the fact that consumers are time poor and find it difficult to allocate time to a holiday.

When they do allocate the time, it is based on short breaks as opposed to a lengthier more fulfilling break.

Farr says these result could indicate a number of things and strongly point to the fact that consumers will be looking at destinations that are easily accessible as well as destinations that are within a close proximity to their point of origin.

More than 2000 people took part in the Travelmate.com.au survey conducted between February and September this year.
