Neenan Travel SYNERGI Ireland switches to Sabre Travel Network

Dublin-based Neenan Travel SYNERGI Ireland has signed a three-year contract to use the Sabre global distribution system (GDS). The agency is a member of SYNERGI, a joint venture enterprise of travel management companies in more than 50 major business centres. The SYNERGI group said in March that it had selected the Sabre system as its preferred GDS for multi-national accounts.

Neenan Travel SYNERGI Ireland has 35 staff, including one implant and several home-workers. It will be using Sabre Travel Network’s Windows-based booking platform and will lease some hardware, including ticket printers. The agency will also use Sabre Travel Network’s Meridia.Res Internet booking engine to develop its online sales strategy. Conversion from Galileo will be completed by September.

Managing director Alan Neenan said his company had been searching for travel commerce products and services that would help diversify revenue streams and grow business.

“Sabre Travel Network has evolved successfully from a travel distribution service into a travel commerce and marketing partner,” he said. “The structure of the entire travel industry is going to change radically over the next few years and I need to partner with companies that are anticipating this change. Customer service is also important as we continue to look for greater value from our suppliers.”

Sabre Travel Network’s preferred supplier agreement with the SYNERGI group means that members are able to manage multi-national accounts on a single GDS, resulting in improved efficiencies and data management. The company’s technology also allows SYNERGI members to integrate a number of important travel documents.

“The agreement marks a major step in the development of SYNERGI and our ability to provide seamless travel management service to our clients around the world,” said Greg O’Neil, president of SYNERGI. “This is an aggressive, long-term partnership. Sabre Travel Network provides the technology platforms we need to achieve our objectives, as well as the resources and commitment to create a mutually beneficial partnership.”

Alan Neenan believes the single automation solution platform, while in its infancy globally, will be the end game for many multi-national corporations. “This partnership with Sabre Travel Network puts SYNERGI and its members on the leading edge of that movement,” he said.
