Neilson sees results online
Thomas Cook active holidays brand Neilson says 80% of bookings through its website have been from new customers since it enabled online booking.
Neilson managing director Pete Tyler told TravelMole the company received over £500,000 in bookings between Christmas Eve and the end of January, and says 80% of these bookings that came online were from new customers. According to Mr Tyler, the normal figure is around 50% of bookings from new customers and the remainder is repeat custom.
The new Neilson website allows customers to browse and book winter and summer holidays plus extras such as ski equipment hire, ski passes, travel insurance and airport car parking. The average booking value between Christmas Eve and the end of January was around £1,800.
The new website is powered by RWA’s Sell-It Suite, which allows customers to search for availability and book and is integrated with Thomas Cook’s TOS reservation system. Neilson decided to relaunch the website and enable online booking after research found than over 90% of its customers had access to the internet.
RWA has also won business with Thomas Cook operator, Sunworld to enable online booking.
