New ABTA board members elected
Bosses from First Choice and Carnival UK have been elected onto ABTA’s board of directors.
Neil Morris of First Choice and Peter Shanks, head of Carnival’s Princess Cruises and Ocean Village brands in the UK, have joined the board.
But ballots will be required for two retail bands. Five will battle for two places in the section for businesses up to £10 million turnover – Daniele Broccoli (Britaly Travel), John Dellaway (Major Travel), Steven Freudmann (Majestic Travel), Rod Thompson (Regent Travel) and Ray Tyler (Courtesy Travel).
Two agents will go into the ballot for a single place for retail business of between £10-£50 million turnover – Andrew Dickson (SAT Business Management) and David Powell (Holiday Express).
Ballot papers will go out next week with a deadline of April 11.
Others re-elected to ABTA’s board include Ian Derbyshire (Thomas Cook), Alan Cornish (Corona Holidays) and Roger Allard (All Leisure Holidays).
The Council of Regions elections saw Bridget Keevil (Travel Stop) elected to Eastern, Jacqueline Steadman (Traveltime World) to Greater London, Sue Foxall (Kinver Travel Centre) re-elected to Midland, Darren Phillips (Darren Phillips Travel) elected to North Eastern, Christine Blocksidge (Taylor Travel Worldchoice), re-elected to North Western, Mary Murphy (Oasis Travel) elected to Northern Ireland, Richard Loosley (Miles Travel) to Southern, Margaret Hewlett (Penarth Travel) to South Wales and John Stephens (Compass Classics) re-elected to South Western.
