New Covid cases soar to more than 100,000 a day in India
New cases of Covid-19 in India have surged to more than100,000 a day, the highest level since the pandemic began. It takes the total number of cases in India to over 12.5 million, which is the third highest in the world behind the US and Brazil.
There have now been more than 165,000 deaths in the second most populous country in the world. The state of Maharashtra alone had nearly 60,000 new cases on Sunday. The state has now imposed a midweek curfew and complete lockdown a weekends.
India has again extended a cap on the number of flights allowed to and from the UK until at least mid-April.
