New Ecotourism Award to Spotlight Government Portals
Government websites that spotlight ecotourism and sustainable travel are eligible to win Planeta.com’s 2007 Ecotourism Spotlight Award. Nominations are accepted online March 15-June 15.
The award will be divided in three categories: local, national and international websites. Nominees may include environmental, tourism or other government websites.
Anyone can nominate a government website. Ideally Planeta would like to hear from local tour operators who are pleased with how their governments work in the field and online web presence.
The application asks whether information about ecotourism, responsible travel, sustainable tourism is included on the portal and how simple it is to locate this information from the home page.
Winners will be announced on World Tourism Day. There is no physical prize but those who win will receive bragging rights! Also, information collected in the nomination and voting phases will be edited into essays featured on Planeta.com and published elsewhere.
