New flights to Romania from regional airport
Romanian airline Blue Air has announced a new service from Liverpool to Bacau in North East Romania.
The twice-weekly service will start on March 31 next year, three months after its launch of a three times a week service to the Romanian capital Bucharest, which will start in December.
Situated in Moldavia, at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, Bacau is one of Romania’s cultural centres with a state theatre, museums and a symphony orchestra.
Attractions include the famous churches of northern Moldavia, which have been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Fares on the flights to Bacau, which will be operated by a Boeing 737-400, will start from €42.90, one way.
Mark Povall, director of air service development for Liverpool John Lennon Airport said: "The response to the launch of Blue Air’s flights to Bucharest has been very encouraging and the support shown by the region’s business community has undoubtedly contributed to the airline’s latest decision to already add further flights, before even starting their operations from here.
"This is an exciting time for the airline and we will continue to work closely to explore other opportunities to serve Liverpool from elsewhere across their network."
Blue Air has been operating for 10 years with a network of services from Romania to destinations across Europe.
