New hire to lead USVI cruise industry strategy
The U.S. Virgin Islands is aiming to lure more cruisers traffic and has hired an industry specialist to help grow cruise business.
The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism appointed Joe Boschulte to lead business development strategy for the Ports of the Virgin Islands.
The appointment will help meet ‘operational improvements’ for the cruise sector, said commissioner of tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty.
Boschulte previously served as president and CEO of cruise port operator The West Indian Company Limited and has years of consulting experience in public-private partnerships.
He also worked at the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority and the Public Services Commission.
"We look forward to the expertise and experience Mr. Boschulte will bring to our team as we seek to continuously improve and enhance the Territory’s critical relationship with our cruise line partners," Nicholson-Doty said.
One of Boschulte’s first tasks will be engaging with cruise executives at the 25th annual Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Conference taking place in Puerto Rico on November 5-9, 2018.
