New Iceland airline Niceair unveils London flights
New airline Niceair is launching a twice weekly service to Akureyri in North Iceland to London’s Stansted Airport.
It begins on 3 June 2022 with Monday and Friday flights
Return flights start from £240 return.
Akureyri is just 100km from the Arctic Circle and regarded as the ‘Capital of the North.’
It was previously only accessible via a five-hour drive or connecting domestic flights from Iceland’s largest airport, Keflavik.
In addition to the twice weekly London service, a new twice weekly route from Manchester to Akureyri starts in October 2022.
Based in Akureyri, North Iceland, Niceair will provide direct international connectivity to North Iceland initially from the UK, Denmark and Spain.
It operates modern Airbus A319 aircraft with 150 seats in an all-economy configuration.
Akureyri itself is picturesque small city with the world’s most northerly botanic gardens, and one of Iceland’s most popular swimming facilities.
Surrounding scenery offers hiking, horse-riding, whale watching and snow sports in the winter.
In the cooler months there is the chance to see the Northern Lights, and summer travellers can experience the midnight sun.
