New Pakistan startup airline takes flight next week
Pakistan’s newest airline startup will officially begin operations next week.
AirSial took delivery of its first Airbus jet and will start flying commercially on 9 December.
It will begin with flights linking Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot and Peshawar.
The airline will be officially launched in a ceremony at Sialkot International Airport by Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
The airline hopes to eventually expand to international services with destinations in the Gulf region and Southeast Asia.
The launch comes at a worrying time for Pakistan’s airline industry.
The industry’s credibility is at its lowest ebb following a recent fake pilot licence scandal.
More than 200 pilots were found to be holding fake credentials.
It is already banned from flying to Europe.
