New program for direct relationships with Pelican hotels
“HotelDirect” is a new program announced by Pelican Hotel E-distribution System and www.hotelexchange.com to provide direct relationships between Pelican hotels and the 5,000 retail travel agents affiliated with them. Participating Pelican hotels will allow approved agents – some 5,000 of them are scattered across 106 countries affiliated with Hotel Exchange – to have direct access to proprietary information such as room rates and room allotments. Agents will be able to book directly to the limit set by their allotment, which can be adjusted at any time by the hotel to reflect changes in demand, according to Pelican and www.hotelsexchange. The companies say the Pelican system will allow travel agents and corporate clients to gain access to confidential trade room rates and allotments, reducing the need to manually confirm special rates and allotments for each client. Rates and allotments can be pre-determined on an individual basis.
