New technology ‘will reduce search time’
New technology enabling agents to quickly search for online accommodation has been launched by Multicom.
The systems supplier has completed a programme of interfaces with suppliers which it said will drastically cut the amount of time retailers spend looking for hotels on the Internet.
Managing director Rob Howell claimed it is the first company to offer an up-to-date cache of uncommitted bed stock.
“Our new development will help reduce the load on suppliers’ reservations systems which is an increasing benefit as more agents search for uncommitted bed stock online,” he said.
“Agents are spending longer returning beds than any other component and we’re calling on companies to work with us to resolve the issue.”
He said as accommodation only sales have grown, providers systems are being visited more by agents, slowing the search and response times during peak periods.
