New Year’s Eve stabbings at luxury hotel
Three men have been arrested after six people were stabbed during New Year celebrations at a luxury hotel in Warwickshire.
Warwickshire Police said they were called to the Bel Air nightclub – a venue within the grounds of The Belfry hotel near Sutton Coldfield – in the early hours of January 1.
A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the chest. He underwent surgery, but his injuries were not reported to be life-threatening.
A police spokesman told the BBC further incidents took place both inside and outside the nightclub while officers were at the scene, which resulted in a further five people sustaining injuries, believed to be stab wounds.
"Four were taken to hospital and one, a 28 year-old man, is in a critical condition," said the spokesman
A 20 year-old man, from the Birmingham area, has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Two others, aged 22 and 26, were also arrested. All three remain in police custody.
The hotel’s management is helping police with their investigation.
