New Zealand welcomes Muslim travelers with Halal guide

Friday, 10 Oct, 2012 0

New Zealand Tourism and Christchurch International Airport have launched a new Halal guide for Muslim travelers.

The guide offers information on where to eat and stay for travelers who are looking for Halal food in a guide called New Zealand: a Culinary Haven for Muslim Travelers.

New Zealand’s Muslim travel numbers have been increasing.  In August, Muslim visitors were up 141 percent from numbers in August 2011.

The guide offers general tourism information as well as a list of Halal classified restaurants and cafes including Halal-certified and vegetarian dishes or vegan cuisine. The new guide will be distributed among travel agents and their customers as well as at New Zealand embassies in Muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesia

The New Zealand tourism office is also offering a series of workshops for the tourism industry, to teach industry professionals how to meet needs and expectations of the Halal market.
