SpongeBob fanatics take note; a Nickelodeon theme park is coming to New Jersey in 2018.

A proposed Nickelodeon Universe will be housed at American Dream, a huge shopping mall complex coming to East Rutherford, NJ, and at 8.5 acres is being touted as the largest indoor amusement park in North America.

It will feature rides and attractions based on iconic Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nickelodeon has partnered with Triple Five Group of Companies to bring the park to American Dream, which is due to open in 2018.

The complex will also house more than 450 stores, an indoor snow park, a theater, aquarium, ice rink, and mini-golf.

"Based on the success we have seen with Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America we are excited to bring the number one entertainment brand for kids to American Dream," said Triple Five president Don Ghermezian.

"The Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream will give kids and families in the New York Metro area the opportunity to interact with their favorite characters like SpongeBob and the Turtles on a grand scale, through rides, attractions and Nick-themed party and event spaces," said Sarah Levy, chief operating officer of Viacom Kids and Family Group.
