Norfolk hotel evacuated over unexploded bomb
Guests and staff of a Norfolk hotel were evacuated after an unexploded bomb was found close by.
The bomb was discovered in a field opposite the Manor Hotel in Blakeney.
A bomb disposal team and emergency services were called out and the device was made safe.
The hotel and surrounding area was off-limits for several hours.
It was described as an ‘old’ device by local residents who suggest it may have been unlodged when drainage ditch was dug a few years ago.
One explanation offered by locals is that the device may have been dug up when a drainage channel was being excavated in the Blanekey area a few years ago.
The Manor Hotel is a listed 17th century building with34 guesstrooms.
