North Queensland Open for Business
Its business as usual for the 600+ tourism operators across both the North and Tropical North areas of Queensland this month with a yet to be launched advertising campaign expected to encourage tourists to visit the region.
National Advertising and Marketing Manager for Sunlover Holidays Tom Clark said while Cyclone Larry caused some damage to the region, more than the 600 tours and activities stretching from Townsville to Cooktown are now in operation.
“Sunlover Holidays is working very closely with Tourism Queensland (TQ) and Tourism Australia (TA) in the development of this campaign,” he said.
“Our aim is to make the broader community aware that despite the cyclone, it is business as normal in these areas,” he said.
“The region has a healthy and buoyant market and we expect it to continue to grow from strength to strength.
“Due to the recent rainfall waterfalls are in spectacular condition, the rapids are more aggressive than ever and snorkelling conditions are pristine.”
“Australians spent 275.9 million nights away from home during the year ending December 2005, so we are hoping that some of these nights will be spent North Queensland during 2006.”
The advertising campaign will offer tourists a range of accommodation options including the ‘stay seven days, pay for 5 offer’ at sites from Townsville to Cairns and further north as well as a $100 discount off tours and activities.
Packages are Valid for travel from May through to August.
