Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings wins injunction blocking Florida vaccine passport ban

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings landed the first blow in its legal fight against Florida’s vaccine passport law.

NCLH won a preliminary court injunction blocking the law while the court case is heard.

The cruise operator argued the state violates federal law by forbidding businesses to demand proof of vaccination.

Norwegian says it would be forced to cancel cruises if the law is upheld.

"We are pleased that Judge Williams saw the facts, the law and the science as we did and granted the company’s motion for preliminary injunction allowing us to operate cruises from Florida with 100% vaccinated guests," the cruise company said.

It clears the way for the company to demand proof of vaccination for all guests on embarkation in the short term.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams said the Florida law violates the First Amendment and the little-known Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
