NSW Fair Trading to continue to investigate rogue inbound tour operators
The NSW Office of Fair Trading says that it is actively investigating complaints by Korean visitors to NSW about rogue operators in the Korean inbound industry.
This is in conjunction with a federally run Korean-language campaign that educates Korean visitors about their consumer rights in Australia and empowers them to take action where those rights have been violated.
Fair Trading is currently negotiating refunds for visitors who have paid excessive prices for so-called health products that have either been misrepresented or have provided little or no benefit.
This action sends a strong message to rogue operators in the Korean and other inbound markets that unscrupulous activities targeting tourists will not be tolerated here.
They said that NSW cannot afford to have a small number of shonky tour operators damaging the State’s reputation overseas.
This is a good example of how Federal and State Governments are working together for the future sustainability of our important inbound sector.
