NTSB probes United near disaster
The National Transportation Safety Board said it will investigate the mysterious nosedive of a United jet which almost plunged into the sea.
United Airlines flight 1722 managed to pull out of a nosedive just 775ft above the Pacific Ocean.
It departed Hawaii just minutes earlier.
It had only reached a height of 2,200 feet when it started to descend.
It plunged for 21 seconds according to flight data.
According to the Air Current, the NTSB investigation will focus on the aircraft flaps and the actions of the pilots.
The crew members have been sent back for additional training.
The Federal Aviation Administration received an initial incident report and ‘took appropriate action’.
