NZ: We’re serious about China
AUCKLAND – New Zealand claims it is not short-changing China with its investment in tourism marketing in the country.
The NZ government has pledged millions of dollars to support New Zealand’s activities at next year’s World Expo in Shanghai.
Prime Minister and tourism minister John Key said New Zeeland was “very committed†to China.
In TravelMole yesterday Ed Sims, Air NZ group general manager, international airline, said the New Zealand industry had to get serious about its investments in China. “We think the industry should be more ambitious,” he said
“If you don’t invest seriously in China, the market can become unprofitable very quickly.â€
Tourism NZ chief executive George Hickton sad the NTO would continue to keep China as a priority growth market.
“We need to be understood in China. Previously we haven’t been, and we will do some work on that.â€
