OAG and AVIS joining forces streamlining car rental booking.
OAG, the global travel and transport information provider has announced that it has become a key content provider to the AVIS Rent a Car reservation system enabling AVIS to provide a better user experience for its business and leisure customers.
Online bookings made on the AVIS web site, or those of its travel partner sites, will automatically link to the OAG flight schedules database that contains details of all direct and connecting flights worldwide including those of the Low Cost airlines.
The user will no longer need to provide details of the desired car rental pick up point, they can simply key in the date the booking is required and the flight number. This will trigger a query to the OAG database validating the flight number and pre-populating fields within the reservation system with flight information relevant to the booking.
Duncan Alexander, OAG’s Managing Director, “Our partnership with AVIS is a great example of how our data and technological capabilities can be integrated into almost any travel-related business to help companies improve their customer service and internal operations.”
“The integration of OAG flight information with AVIS’ e-commerce platform is an important step in streamlining its entire global booking system and we are delighted to be a part of the new AVIS web site making it easier for travellers to book car rental.
“OAG has provided us with an invaluable technological solution for our new web site,” said John Phipps, Director of Customer Contact Systems Development at AVIS Europe, adding, “Earlier this year we launched our Inspired Change programme with the aim of becoming more customer focussed and making the car rental process as quick and clear as possible.” “The website is the first point to experience this revamp and OAG is part of the core team that are making it happen.”
