Och no! Is it not a wee bit nippy for that?
A Scottish landowner is set to cash in on the growing popularity of naturism by setting up a nudist beach just 40 miles from the country’s most northerly point, John O’Groats.
According to the Daily Telegraph, 52-year-old Michael Dudgeon will open what will be just the second naturist beach in Scotland at Crakaig, near Helmsdale, Sutherland. He reportedly told the newspaper: “We have an excellent climate with a very low rainfall. We benefit from the Gulf Stream and although people have been offering to sell me midge-eating machines there are very few midges due to the sea breeze.”
He continued: “I’m getting about 10 letters a day from naturists all over Britain. The locals are very supportive; let’s face it, we need all the visitors we can get, clothed or unclothed.” The Telegraph reports that the only other naturist beach in Scotland is on the Isle of Arran, off the country’s west coast.
As reported by News From Abroad, a 2001 NOP survey suggests that a quarter of the British population has swum in the nude, 14 per cent of us have sunbathed au naturel, and 82 per cent believe nudity should be legal on some beaches.
