Octopus continues strong growth
OctopusTravel.com has continued its rapid expansion in the Australian market, with its retail division recording sales growth of almost 350 per cent over the past 12 months.
The online operator, which specialises in accommodation listings, has launched a string of new products such as private transfers and various sightseeing options which have added to the company’s bottom line over the past year.
The company’s strong focus on working with and adding new partners such as Harvey World Travel, STA, Travellers Choice and Flight Centre has also spearheaded its rapid growth.
The recent addition of the Enett payment system is another example of improvements that are being made to the site to make it accessible to more agents.
OctopusTravel.com general manager Peter Smith says the addition of Enett alongside the existing Money Direct and credit card payment options is an extension of the company’s customer service to agents.
“Agents and affiliates such as Virgin Blue form an integral part of our total business and we have in-house teams dedicated to working closely with them and adding new features to make life easier for them and their clients,” Mr Smith said.
“As a result of this goodwill, we have seen a 65 per cent increase in agent registrations through the site over the past 12 months.”
OctopusTravel.com has established a strong foothold in the Australian market since launching here in 2002. Agents have embraced the site’s easy-to-use formula, which boasts 365-day availability, instant confirmations and a guaranteed 10 per cent commission.
Other site features such as detailed city and country travel guides, currency converters, weather reports and travel and health advice are geared up to empowering agents and helping them meet clients’ needs.
