OctopusTravel in global SIA deal
Accommodation website OctopusTravel.com has forged a global online partnership with Singapore Airlines.
Travelport-owned OctopusTravel will provide SIA with hotels and apartments through 40 of the airline’s websites around the world.
Each of the websites will be co-branded and designed according to the requirements of the airline’s existing local markets, including customized languages and payment in local currencies.
OctopusTravel will provide dedicated call centres around the world to help users with hotel/ground service booking queries as well as for sales by telephone.
Asia Pacific regional director Ernst Hemmer said: “We are thrilled about Singapore Airlines’ choice of OctopusTravel as its online partner, and the decision to broaden their online offering illustrates that airlines recognise that they must deliver a range of products beyond flights to attract visitors into their online direct channel, and to offer one-stop shopping convenience to customers.
“This new partnership also clearly emphasizes that established network airlines recognize the tremendous growth opportunities in global online travel, and in Asia Pacific in particular, and are now prepared technologically as well as in content to take advantage of those opportunities.”
