Ohana launches more interisland routes
Hawaiian Airlines will add new routes and frequencies this summer on its new interisland venture Ohana by Hawaiian.
The fledgling subsidiary, which began flying in March, will offer daily flights from Kahului on Maui to Moloka’i and Kona on 48-seater ATR-42 turboprop planes on July 8.
An additional flight from Kahului to Hilo starts July 10.
The carrier said it will also add an extra flight between Honolulu and Moloka’i, bringing the number of daily departures to four, launching on July 8.
"Since launching we’ve received overwhelmingly positive response and robust demand for more service between the islands to connect our communities," said Hadden Watt, Ohana by Hawaiian managing director.
The new flights will go some way to reversing the lost capacity after Island Air ended its Honolulu-Moloka’i route and Go! Airlines pulled out of Hawaii altogether back in April.
